Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 12, 2026

By adding Dongbot to your Discord server or using any of its commands, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the bot.

1. Description of Service

Dongbot is a Discord bot that provides slash commands for entertainment purposes, including generating messages that mention users or roles. The bot also features an AI-powered quote generator. A companion website is available that documents the bot's commands.

2. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age requirement set by Discord's Terms of Service to use this bot. By using Dongbot, you represent that you are in compliance with Discord's terms and any applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Dongbot to:

  • Harass, threaten, or target any individual or group
  • Violate Discord's Community Guidelines or Terms of Service
  • Spam commands or attempt to disrupt the service
  • Attempt to exploit, reverse engineer, or interfere with the bot or its infrastructure

Server administrators are responsible for ensuring the bot is used appropriately within their servers.

4. Data Collection & Privacy

Bot Interactions

When you use a slash command, Discord transmits interaction data to Dongbot's servers for the purpose of generating a response. This includes your Discord user ID and any options provided to the command (e.g., a mentioned user or role ID). This data is used solely to fulfill the command request and is not persistently stored.

Website Analytics

The Dongbot companion website uses PostHog to collect anonymous page view analytics. This may include pages visited and general usage patterns. No personally identifiable information is intentionally collected through analytics.

Third-Party Services

Certain features (such as AI-generated quotes) are powered by third-party APIs (OpenAI). Requests to these services contain only the prompt text and no user-identifying information.

5. Third-Party Services

Dongbot relies on third-party platforms including Discord, OpenAI, and PostHog. Use of those platforms is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

6. Availability

We make no guarantees about uptime or availability. The bot may be taken offline, updated, or discontinued at any time without notice.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Dongbot is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the bot will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creators of Dongbot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the bot or its companion website.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of Dongbot after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the date of the most recent revision.

10. Contact

If you have questions or concerns about these Terms, please reach out via the bot's official Discord server or GitHub repository.
